Together with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), the German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (GNC/LWF) works for a just, peaceful and reconciled world and for the dignity of all people. The GNC/LWF represents the eleven German member churches in the LWF and supports the work of the LWF in Germany in a variety of ways. Through our humanitarian commitment and our development aid work, we support people in need around the world.

Theology and ecumenism

The dimensions of theology, unity, mission and justice are at the heart of the Lutheran World Federation's (LWF) work. Our aim is to support the presence and witness of our member churches and World Service country programs in their own contexts.

In its theological work, the LWF contributes to bringing together the contextual richness of its member churches and the common Lutheran heritage and making it fruitful for the growth of the intra-Lutheran communion. Through numerous bilateral dialogues with other Christian world communions, the LWF contributes to the search for the unity of the Church of Jesus Christ.

The German National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation accompanies the LWF in these tasks by publicizing the theological and ecumenical results of the LWF in Germany. It develops and coordinates the ecumenical positioning of its member churches and brings this to the LWF.
